Music Video – I’m Not Dead Yet

This is the first music video from my album Looking Out For Texas. The song is about the fact that as long as I’m breathing I’ll be making this music and chasing down a dream. I had grown my hair out for a year (sort of a 1/3 of a life crisis, 30th birthday panic thing), and I wanted to make sure I used that in a video before I chopped it off and went back to looking presentable. I had fun making the video with the “cooking up new music” gimmick. Pretty cheesy humor, but that’s right up my alley. I hope you get a grin out of the video and a jam out of the song.

Sway When I Rhyme Free Download

Recently I was going stir crazy on a Sunday night in my apartment. I didn’t want to let the weekend go so I stayed up til about 2am writing this song. It’s just a feel good song to enjoy.

The sample is from Freelance Whales – Generator 1st Floor. I do not own any rights to their song, I just wanted to make this track because I love the sound of their song. Please download, share and enjoy!

Live Performance at Jet Lounge in Houston

On Sunday, March 11, 2012 I had the opportunity to perform at the Jet Lounge in Houston, TX. Big thanks to King Dirty Talk for hitting me up to be in the lineup. Never thought when I did that collabo verse for him via youtube/email that I’d end up performing in a show with him in H-Town. The turnout was less than expected but we still had a great time.

I had a 25 minute set which included Boss Taylor and SHELLZ so we broke it down nice and proper. The vibe was great and the energy was high so regardless of the small audience we performed like it was an arena show. Check out the video below for a recap. If you weren’t at this show then please get yourself out to the next one!

Music Video – Battering Ram

This song is the hidden track on Always The Quiet Ones. I’m not telling you where it’s hidden so please just buy the album to find out lol. The concept is simple: the Battering Ram that I hold is my music, and every song or album I make is just another swing against the door of the rap game.

I know I’m not a perfect artist or even a great one, but I feel like I improve with every project. I feel like I just keep on making impact with the Rap Game door and eventually that thing is going to give way and let me in (“Yeah it took a few ‘hits’ but the wood is split”). This is where persistence pays off as well, I’ve seen so many people say they want to be rappers. They try for a bit and eventually give up when things don’t materialize quickly (“Hell I’ve been standing outside for so long, all the other people in line have gone home.”). There’s also the matter of being so deep in this pursuit now that I’m not going to turn back until something big happens (“I done worked too hard, done too much, I’m not giving up spreading Big Hush”).

The video was a blast to make. This one was the first video I’ve made with an actual concept and story that plays off the song. Big thanks to Cranium Boy yet again for helping me plot the video and film it. Not to mention his role as the Rap Game that’s trying to keep me out. We couldn’t think of a better way to show that he was the Rap Game so at the last second we wrote “Rap Game” on his t-shirt with a sharpie lol. Hey, it worked. One thing we were both proud of was the “Oh I see what they did there” moment at the end when I put the chair back under the door knob. This was to imply that now that I’m in the Rap Game I’ll have to defend my place against the next artist coming up to takeover. Enjoy the video, download the album, spread the word!

Full Footage from Feb. 19th Show!

Ladies and gents I finally got my lazy ass around to editing the footage from the most recent live event. So Check it out! Parts 1 and 2. I’m mad though, I had to chop them down a bit due to YouTube’s 15 minute time limit on videos. So I lost the part where the crowd was singing “When I’ll Get My Sleep” with me, and it was awesome. Ah well, the rest of it is all there so sit back, relax and watch. For those of you that didn’t go to the show you better go to the next one!! I won’t always post the entire thing online so you’ll have to see it in person or miss it forever hahaha. Thank you everyone that came out and anyone that watches the videos.
